For the double bass shown on the video, 6 meters or 7 yards of nylon string is enough for the whole fingerboard.
-
The head is threaded through the first hole on the left and pulled until it makes two equal lengths of string.
-
At this point the actual frets are created: the head of the first string passes beneath the strings (if they are present) and passes through the first hole on the right to come out on the first hole on the left side.
-
Before putting the string in the third hole on the right (always remember to skip a hole), be careful to hold the string tight as it comes out of the hole on the left so that it is well tensed, always give it a strong tug at each exit on the left side.
-
Continue this threading process (always skipping a hole) until you obtain the desired number of frets.
-
At the end it is necessary to thread the string through the aluminum tube that comes with it (or any other type of blocking system such as a knot) and “clamp” the string in it with a pair of pliers.
-
Repeat this process beginning with the second hole and continue with the even-numbered holes, always be careful to stretch the string tight at every point.
